Pokémon Champions coming to Nintendo Switch in April and later this year on mobile devices
We now have a confirmed date for Pokémon Champions — it will arrive in April on Nintendo Switch and on Android and iOS later this year. They also shared more details about recruitment and the regulations that change every few seasons.
Battles
As we already know, there are three types of Battles (Ranked, Friendly, and Private), and each can be played in Single or Double format.
In Ranked Battles, you'll face trainers of the same rank and earn Victory Points (VP) based on your results. In Friendly Battles you can practice strategies in a more relaxed setting without losing your rank. In Private Battles you can change the rules and face your friends or family.
Victory Points (VP)
You can earn Victory Points (VP) by playing Ranked Battles, among other ways. They are needed to recruit and train Pokémon. They cannot be purchased directly, which could indicate this game won't be Pay to Win or Pay to Fast — though as we'll see later, there are tickets that can fulfill certain VP functions and can be purchased.
Seasons and Regulations
Every few seasons, new regulations will be introduced for Ranked Battles that will change certain parameters. Depending on your results in the season, you'll earn different rewards.
Team Building
In Pokémon Champions you'll be able to recruit Pokémon using VP, choosing from a random selection that refreshes every 22 hours — a timer that can be reduced by 1 hour with each speed coupon. There are also recruitment tickets obtainable mainly by completing in-game missions, letting you recruit Pokémon without spending VP.
Training
With VP you can improve certain stats of your Pokémon such as Attack, Defense, HP, and more. You can also modify their Abilities or Moves. Pokémon recruited during a trial period cannot be trained.
You can use training tickets to train a Pokémon.
